Gail Meehan – Imagineer

Every road I’ve taken and each path along the way has led me on a journey that continues to take me to a greater place!

Growing up in CT with five sisters, I couldn’t wait to break free and find a place of my own.  Not wanting what was expected of me after high school, I enrolled in a local two-year business school and started a career with Xerox Corporation.  Paycheck, first apartment and money in the bank were great, but short lived. There had to be more…

At a time when it was believed you could travel Europe on $5 a day, I couldn’t resist.  With $800 in my pocket, and a good friend willing to leave it all behind, we set out to experience life.  My only security was the promise that Xerox would send my papers to Rank Xerox in London (the only reason my parents allowed me to go).  I was 19 years old.  Starting out in Switzerland, we traveled for nearly a year before reaching England.  I was in a great place.  We worked for six months before returning to the states.

Reinstated with Xerox and working at a desk in the town I left behind found me yearning for excitement, another challenge.  I requested my papers be sent to California.  Could I be as lucky?  With no guarantees, I took to the road again. Alone, but with immense determination, I found my way to Laguna Beach.  I was in a great place.  My papers did in fact reach the Xerox Santa Ana office and I was employed again.  Laguna Beach became my home and I lived there for ten years.  I left Xerox for a position with Getty Oil Company, who paid for my education at UCLA.  Marriage came next, then back home to CT where my son was born.

My career has taken me in many directions from newspaper reporter to Coordinator of Special Events and Public Relations for the American Red Cross.  I am an avid lover of photography and have had two photo businesses: Flashback Video Productions and That’s My Kid Sports Photography.  My background in media relations, love for event planning, enthusiasm and creativity brings me, again, to a great place - where I am now!
